Chimney Rock State Park is a North Carolina state park in Chimney Rock, Rutherford County. The 6,807-acre (27.55 sq km) park is located 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Asheville, North Carolina, and is owned by the state of North Carolina. It offers hiking trails, spectacular views and a 404-foot (123 m) waterfall (Hickory Nut Falls) [{GoogleMap location='Hickorynut Falls, Chimney Rock, NC, USA' zoom='14'}]. Its most notable feature is a 315-foot (96 m) granite monolith rock formation, Chimney Rock. Chimney Rock is accessible by elevator and provides an astonishing view of the park and surrounding countryside.
