This natural arch, about 65 m high and consisting of horizontal limestone strata, is the leftover of a cave or a tunnel through which the creek once flowed. The formation was a sacred site of the Native American Monacan tribe. Today it is designated a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark and can be visited by tourists. %% [{Metadata Suchbegriff='Natural Bridge Natural Bridge'}] [{SET customtitle='Natural Bridge Natural Bridge'}]
