Following the Chinese example, Korea  built an extensive confucianistic examination system for those who wanted to work as an official for the nation. Everybody could take part in these examinations, but only a few ethically flawless people made it through the civil service. The principle: "You can only pass hard examinations, if you are simply the best" is still valid today.

Nach chinesischem Vorbild gab es in Korea ein umfassendes konfuzianisches Prüfungssystem für all jene, die als Beamte im Staatsapparat tätig werden wollten. Jeder Mann durfte an solchen Prüfungen teilnehmen, doch nur die ethisch Untadeligsten schafften es in den Staatsdienst. Bis heute gilt in Korea der Grundsatz: „Wer harte Prüfungen besteht, muss einfach der Beste sein“.
