The monumental gateway leading towards the temple and palace grounds is guarded by two eyeless sphinxes. These fable creatures with lion bodies and human heads are among the oldest protectoral symbols of mankind. In the south of Anatolia more than 11,000 year old depictions of these mythical creatures were found.

Das Monumentaltor zur Tempel-Palast-Anlage wird von zwei augenlosen Sphingen bewacht. Die Fabelwesen aus Löwenkörper und Menschenkopf gehören zu den frühesten Schutzsymbolen der Menschheit. Im Süden Anatoliens fand man über 11.000 Jahre alte Darstellungen dieser mythischen Figur.
