You have to start early, to become a real dervish. Dancing ecstatically the Sufis dressed in with sheets try to achieve a union with Allah. By constant high-speed spinning around their own body axis they reach a trance-like state that blurs space and time. While spinning, one hand points towards the sky, the other one towards the ground. This gesture symbolizes the transfer of wisdom from god to mankind.
