Orgues#

Near the small village Ille sur Tete are famous sandstone formations, the orgues (organ pipes) 42.6823084,2.6209206 .

The rocks are 5 million years old, dating back to the Pliozen period.

They consist of sand and clay. The river Tet brought this material from the Pyernees, forming a substantial plateau that is now continuously being eroded by rain leaving needles of sandstone that look like organ pipes.
