\\A new kind of structure, called wheelhouse, was introduced at Jarlshof [{GoogleMap location='Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement, Shetland, Großbritannien und Nordirland' zoom='12'}] in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. As the name implies the building was a round house with its roof supported by radial piers, which were arranged like the spokes of a wheel.
