Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht, wir bringen dem Kindlein ein Opfer dar#
Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht, wir bringen dem Kindlein ein Opfer dar - (Silent night, Holy night, we bring a sacrifice for the Christ child) is a variation of the world-famous Christmas song by Gruber and Mohr, recorded in Flachgau/Salzburg, where it was sung by children as a New Year's Greeting for their relatives. The song's simple melody, the text in dialect and references to country life set the story of the birth of Christ in the home village; this has a parallel in the local crèche-scenes (Illustration) as popular objects of Folk piety in many families.
