Jugend und Volk, J & V#

Jugend und Volk, J & V, publishing company, founded in Vienna in1921 with the object of supporting the school reforms of O. Gloeckel by publishing modern textbooks. Up to 1934 mainly educational publications, textbooks for elementary schools and middle schools, as well as children´s books and literature for young people (for example, A. Umlauf-Lamatsch). After 1945, J & V focused primarily on the publication of books for children and young people, achieving particular success with books by K. Bruckner, F. Habeck, M. Lobe, and C. Noestlinger. The children´s encyclopedia "Die Kinderwelt von A bis Z" and the encyclopedia for young people "Die Welt von A bis Z" sold especially high numbers of copies.

As part of the Bohmann Group ( Bohmann Druck- und Verlag Ges.m.b.H & Co.KG) since 1995, Jugend und Volk has specialised in the field of education and has relinquished its other publishing sectors. Jugend und Volk has won many Austrian and international prizes, and many of its books have been published in other languages.
