Lainz#

Lainz, became a part of the 13th district of Vienna in 1892. First settlement probably in the 11th century, first documentary mention in 1324-1338. Lainz and Speising were originally a joint domain. - From 1902 until 1904 the City of Vienna built the "Lainzer Versorgungshaus" (Home for the Aged), which was extended from 1908 until 1913 to become the Lainz hospital set up in a pavilion system on the initiative of K. Lueger. The tuberculosis pavilion emerged in the interwar period and further special wards have been added since. There is also a residential home for the aged.
