Austrian National Tourist Office (Oesterreich Werbung), marketing 
organisation for the Austrian tourist industry, founded in 1954 as an 
association, with the federal government, the provinces and the 
Economic Chamber as members. The association is chaired by the 
minister of economic affairs currently in office. The head office is 
located in Vienna; there are 24 full-time branch offices and 57 
honorary agencies, which engage in advertising activities and 
promotion and information services for the Austrian tourism industry 
with a total of 280 employees. The Austrian National Tourist Office is 
also engaged in market research and market observation and the 
elaboration of an electronic tourist information system.
