Aachen, Peace of, also known as Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle, October 18, 
1748 (pre-treaty April 30), ended the  Austrian Succession, War of 
the. Austria lost Silesia to Prussia once and for all, as well as 
Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla to a tertiogeniture of the Spanish house 
of Bourbon, and parts of Lombardy to Sardinia. However, all parties 
involved recognised the  Pragmatic Sanction and the emperorship of 
Franz I.
