b. Passau (Germany), Dec. 15, 1843, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 23, 1926, Jesuit, from 1891 popular preacher and 
"Men's Apostle of Vienna" ("Maennerapostel von Wien"). Cooperated with 
the  Christian Socialist Movement against liberalism. Founder of 
congregations, co-founder of the Catholic students' fraternity 
"Austria". Initiated men's pilgrimages to Klosterneuburg and Mariazell 
(monument 1932).
