Abgeordneter: representative, elected member of a public-law 
corporation, esp. a representative of the people in parliament. In 
Austria, a distinction is made between Abgeordnete in the  Nationalrat 
(National Council),  Bundesrat (Federal Council) and the  Landtage 
(provincial diets). The number and legal status of these Abegeordnete 
are set forth in the Austrian constitution and law (incl. the right to 
vote on decisions, to introduce motions, the right to immunity, 
regulations on conflicts of interest, law on salaries).
