Aigen im Muehlkreis, Upper Austria, market town in the district of 
Rohrbach im Muehlkreis, alt. 600 m, pop. 1,802, area 
17.46 km%%sup 2/%, on the River Grosse Muehl, near  Schlaegl 
monastery. - District court, customs office, granite works, timber 
processing, civil engineering, soap, candle and label production, 
electrotechnical ind., automated weaving mill, tourism, (60,141 
overnight stays). - first documented 1314, filial church of 
St. Martin (1644), Mariensaeule (column dedicated to the Virgin 
Mary, 1722), fountain (17th century) from Schlaegl monastery, statue 
by J. Spaz.
