Blood Alcohol Test, measurement of blood alcohol level; can be made
mandatory in cases where road accidents cause considerable personal
injury. The maximum legal blood alcohol level for drivers in Austria
has been 0.05% or 0.01% for vehicles over 7.5 tons since 1998.
The former maximum permissible level was 0.08%. When higher levels are
found, health insurance institutions and insurers take recourse
against the insured person.
