Altaussee, Lake, Styria, alt. 709 m, area 2.1 km%%sup 2/%, 
3 km long, 1 km wide, 53 m deep, lake in Salzkammergut 
region in the southwest foothills of the Totes Gebirge mountains, 
feeds the River Altausseer Traun; at foot of Trisselwand 
(1,755 m); fishing (saibling). The municipality of Altaussee is 
located on the western shore.
