!!!Altenmarkt an der Triesting

Altenmarkt an der Triesting, Lower Austria, market town in the 
district of Baden, alt. 390 m, pop. 2,060, area 63.43 km%%sup 2/% in 
Triestingtal Valley east of Kaumberg mountain; the road from the town 
of Moedling (formerly the Via Sacra) crosses the Triestingtal road; 
forest products, senior citizens' centre, was once an industrial town; 
heavy fighting in 1945. Parish church with late Gothic choir, nave 
1785/1786: Baroque domed church of Thennenberg (1764) with frescoes by 
J. Bergl and I. Mildorfer.  Klein-Mariazell and the pilgrimage church  
Hafnerberg are located within the town limits.
