Altheim, Upper Austria, market town in the district of Braunau, alt. 
360 m, pop. 4,681, area 22.61 km%%sup 2/%, in the valley of 
the Altheimer Ache river. - hot water spring; commuting centre; 
economic structure mainly influenced by Wiesner-Hager company 
(furniture company and construction group), machine manufacturing and 
metal processing industry, tinned fruit factory, breweries. - First 
documented in 903, St. Sebastian market church (built 1634 as chapel 
commemorating the Plague) and St. Laurentius parish church changed to 
Baroque style (1516-1539) with Baroque interior by J. M. 
Vierthaler (1734); triangular square.
