Amerikahaeuser (America Houses), cultural and information centres 
established by US occupation forces in Vienna, Linz and Salzburg in 
1946 with libraries and record collections. These facilities used to 
promote the exchange of artists and academics, since 1965 only the 
information centre in Vienna has been sustained.
