d. Vienna, Jan. 14, 1887, portraiture and genre painting, historical 
scenes; studied at the Vienna Academy of Arts and in Prague, 
concentrated on portrait painting after returning from London and 
Paris, strongly influenced by T. Lawrence and J. Reynolds; 
had his most fruitful period between 1830 and 1850; his work was held 
in high esteem by the upper and middle classes.
