alt. 120 m, pop. 2,624, area 47.29 km%%sup 2/%, Angerdorf 
village around common in the Seewinkel area, near the Hungarian 
border; the lowest geographical point in Austria lies to the southeast 
of Andau (alt. 112 m). - Reception centre during the 1956 
Hungarian Revolt. - Winemaking area. Nature preserve (lowland moors 
and salt steppes, giant bustards).
