b. Klagenfurt (Carinthia), March 11, 1896, 
d. Klagenfurt, Jan. 5, 1977, music teacher in Klagenfurt and collector 
of folk songs. From 1952 organised the Turnersee Singing Festival, 
which led to a revival of folk music in Austria. His life´s work 
was the collection and systematisation of Carinthian folk songs in 
"Kaerntner Volksliedschatz" (12 vols., 1960-1975) which was 
continued and completed by Walter  Deutsch.
