b. Sopron, Hungary (then Oedenburg), July 8, 1840, 
d. Vienna, Oct. 21, 1925, portraitist and graphic artist, studied at 
the Academies of Vienna, Duesseldorf and Munich, 1862 returned to 
Vienna, from 1876 professor at the Vienna Academy, frequently 
commissioned to work abroad, celebrated portraitist of European royal 
families.
