b. Vienna, May 16, 1927, conductor and composer; from 1952-1956, solo
violist with the Wiener Philharmoniker; after that, kapellmeister in
Bonn, Ulm and Salzburg; 1968-1972, opera director of the Salzburg
Landestheater;1971-1981, director of the Suedwestdeutsches
Kammerorchester; since 1982 head of the "Concilium Musicum" in Vienna.
Taught at the Vienna Musikhochschule* 1982-1992 and now works for the
Austrian broadcasting corporation ORF. His compositions bear traces of
Paul Hindemith´s style. Austrian State Prize for Music in 1953.

Agamemnon muss sterben (dramatic cantata, 1954); Die
Passkontrolle (TV opera, 1958); Missa Seitenstettensis (1987);
concertos, chamber music.
