!!!Angleichung
Assimilation (German: Angleichung, literally "harmonisation" or
"making the same"): Individuals who live permanently of for
prolonged periods among people belonging to a different ethnic group
tend to assimilate (mostly in the second generation) with their
environment in respect of language, customs and cultural attitudes
even if they continue to speak their original vernacular and uphold
the customs of their country of origin. In Austria, the period after
1900 saw the assimilation of many persons of different nationalities
who had immigrated into Austria (Czechs, Hungarians) and of members of
minority groups (Croats, some Slovenes). In recent years, the
assimilation of the children of guest workers resident in Austria has
been noticeably increasing.
