preservation of historical monuments, 1844-1860 director of the 
History Association of Carinthia, 1849-1860 head of the Archive of 
Local History and Topography (Archiv fuer vaterlaend. Geschichte und 
Topographie) which had been created at his suggestion; embarked on the 
"Handbook of the History of Carinthia" (2 vols., 1841/1859).
