started his career as assistant director, first worked as a director
in the short sound film "Vagabunden" (1933). Directed more than 70
Austrian and German light films, esp. Heimatfilm (films with regional
background) and K. u. k. Films (films about the time of the
Monarchy), esp. "Der alte Suender" (1951), "Hallo Dienstmann" (1952),
"Kaiserwalzer" (1953), "Spionage" (1955), "Lumpazivagabundus" (1957),
"Ruf der Waelder" (1965), "Susanne, die Wirtin an der Lahn" (1967),
"Casanova & Co." (1977), "Der Bockerer I" (1981), "Der
Bockerer II" (1996), "Der Bockerer III" (2000).
