Notification, Requirement of: 1) Under § 84 of the 
Strafprozessordnung (Code of Criminal Procedure), authorities and 
public service offices are required to report all criminal acts coming 
to their knowledge and pertaining to their legal sphere of activity to 
the public prosecutor's office or to a law enforcement agency. 
Exceptions are made for parole officers and social workers. Doctors 
are required to report severe bodily injuries and cases of child 
abuse.

2) In numerous cases, an obligation to report to administrative 
authorities also applies, for example in the case of births and 
deaths, important finds, construction projects, public events, certain 
diseases, and animal epidemics.
