Labour Market Policy, in the narrower sense deliberate, selected 
measures designed to improve or secure the position of individuals or 
groups on the labour market and thus also to improve the ratio of 
supply and demand on the labour market. Such measures include those 
designed to prevent material need (e.g. benefits and subsidies in the 
context of  Unemployment Insurance, and measures aimed at facilitating 
(re-)entry into the work force (advice for job-seekers, support in 
obtaining qualifications, wage subsidies, etc.).
