!!!Arlbergbahn

Arlbergbahn Mountain Railway between Landeck (Tyrol) and Bludenz
(Vorarlberg), 63 km long, built under the supervision of Julius
Lott in 1880-1884 in order to connect Tyrol with Vorarlberg and
Switzerland. Runs under the Arlberg Pass in the 10.3 km Arlberg
tunnel between St. Anton (Tyrol) and Langen (Vorarlberg),
electrified in 1925. Outside of the Arlberg tunnel, the railway used
to be only a single-track line that has been expanded to a double
track in certain sections since the early 1990s (e.g. between Schnann
and St. Jakob am Arlberg, completed in 1997). The maximum incline
of the railway's eastern ramp is 26:1000, the western ramp's maximum
is 31:1000. There are 31 tunnels and aqueducts as well as 26 large
bridges and viaducts on the Arlbergbahn line; the most famous bridge
is the impressive Trisanna Bridge.
