!!!Artstetten-Pöbring
Artstetten-Poebring, Lower Austria, market town in the district of
Melk, alt. 395 m, pop. 1,170, area 27.28 km%%sup 2/%, north
of Poechlarn. - Artstetten Palace with its 6 Renaissance towers was
acquired by the Emperor Franz I in 1823 and came into the
possession of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1896, who was buried with
his wife Sophie in the tomb of the Palace's parish church (designed in
1909, with painting by Kremser Schmidt and objects from Franz
Ferdinand's possessions). The Archduke Franz Ferdinand Museum has now
been integrated into the Palace, which is now owned by Franz
Ferdinand's descendants.
