Aschach an der Donau, Upper Austria, market town in the district of 
Eferding, alt. 268 m, pop. 2,140, area 6.05 km%%sup 2/%, on 
the right bank of the Danube and on the northern edge of the Eferding 
Basin; Danube shipping docks, Western Austrian Waterways 
Administration - Danube power plant (built 1963; 1,648,000 MWh); 
bricks, animal feed, preserved foods, and starch production, chemical 
plant; bridge across the Danube (1962). - First documented 777, 
shipping toll station (until 1775) with gabled townhouses 
(16%%sup th/% -18th centuries); late Gothic parish church (around 
1490) changed to Baroque style with Classicist high altar; Gothic 
church with cemetery (1371); Harrach Palace (16th century) with 
English landscape garden, east wing ("Fuerstenstoeckl", 1709).
