Asparn an der Zaya, Lower Austria, market town in the district of 
Mistelbach, alt. 222 m, pop. 1,688, area 40.49 km%%sup 2/%, 
west of Mistelbach. - Museum fuer Urgeschichte des Landes 
Niederoesterreich (Museum of Pre-History of the Province of Lower 
Austria) in Asparn Palace (formerly a moated castle, expanded 1421, 
altered in 17th century), copies of prehistoric dwellings, workshops 
and the like in the Palace park; Weinlandmuseum (Wine Region Museum) 
in Minorite monastery (1735). Fortified church and Lower Austrian 
Schulmuseum (school museum) in Michelstetten. - The Leiser Berge 
nature preserve is located to the southwest of Asparn an der Zaya.
