!!!Astl Astel, Lienhardt

Astl (Astel), Lienhard(t), late gothic wood-carver and statue painter,
probably had his workshop in Gmunden (Upper Austria) between1505 and
1523. (No documentary proof). His name can be found on the winged
altarpiece of Hallstatt (Salzburg, around 1515) and became a synonym
for a group of stylistically similar works in Upper Austria and Styria
such as the winged altarpieces of Gampern and Groebming and several
single figures.
