Attersee, Lake (also called Kammersee), Upper Austria, alt. 
467 m, area 45.9 km%%sup 2/%, 20 km long, 4 km 
wide, 171 m deep, largest lake in the Salzkammergut region and 
the Austrian Alps, rich in fish; Schafberg mountain (1,783 m) to 
the southwest, Hoellengebirge (1,862 m) mountains to the 
southeast. The Lake's largest feeder, the Seeache stream from Lake 
Mondsee, flows into the southwest part of the Lake. Drained by the 
River Ager near Kammer. Remnants of late Stone-Age lake-dwellings and 
Bronze-Age relics found on shores ( Mondsee Culture). Ship service, 
important tourist area. - Lakeside towns: Seewalchen, Schoerfling, 
Weyregg, Steinbach, Weissenbach, Unterach, Nussdorf and Attersee.
