!!!Auenbrugger, Leopold von

b. Graz (Styria), Nov. 19, 1722, 
d. Vienna, May 18, 1809, physician, invented the method of percussion 
(tapping the patient´s chest enables the doctor to diagnose 
internal diseases) which he documented in his treatise "Inventum 
novum" (1761). The French clinician J. N. Corvisart 
(Napoleon´s personal physician) was the first to acknowledge and 
propagate this method.
