Public Notice, public judicial invitation directed at unknown involved 
parties to submit their claims; a legal disadvantage arises for those 
who do not report claims within the period specified. In marital law, 
the term was understood as the public announcement (lasting 1 week) of 
a planned marriage, with the goal of bringing previously unknown 
impediments to a marriage to the attention of the registrar (was 
applicable until December 31, 1983,  Marriage).
