Aula (University aula), assembly hall built 1753-1755 by J. N. 
Jadot de Ville-Issey in the style of early French Classicism for the 
old University building in the 1st district of Vienna, used 
exclusively for University functions until 1848. Centre of student 
riots in 1848. Partly used as barracks, 1848-1856; seat of the 
Austrian Academy of Sciences since 1857
