!!!Ausseer Land

Ausseer Land, Styria, the Styrian part of the Salzkammergut region, 
the main town of which is  Bad Aussee; includes the headwaters of the 
River Traun and the area around Bad Mitterndorf between the Totes 
Gebirge mountains, Grimming, Kammergebirge mountains and the eastern 
part of the Dachstein mountain group. The lakes Altausseersee, 
Grundlsee, Toplitzsee and Kammersee (site of the Traun waterfall) are 
located in Ausseer Land From 1938 until July 1, 1948, the Ausseer Land 
(= judicial district of Bad Aussee) belonged to Upper Austria. The 
region's main industry is tourism, followed by the wood industry; salt 
mining in Sandling mountain (since 1147). A large part of Ausseer Land 
(370 km%%sup 2/%) is a nature preserve.
