!!!Austria Email AG
Austria Email AG, manufacturer and supplier of water heaters, heaters,
gas and solar energy facilities, headquarters at Knittelfeld (Styria).
Created from the merger of a factory for enamelware which had been
established at the end of the 19th century and a group of Viennese
factories owned by the Laenderbank bank. In the 1930s the majority of
shares was taken over by the STEG state railway company; after World
War II the company was taken over by Creditanstalt-Bankverein
bank group and in 1972 acquired its present name. In 1980 it was taken
over by a subsidiary of ELIN AG. In 1990 Auricon Beteiligungs-AG
purchased a controlling share of its stock, and in 1992 its business
areas were separated into Austria Email Waermetechnik GmbH (heating)
and Austria Email Licht- und Umwelttechnik GmbH (lighting and
environmental engineering). The latter was sold in 1995; in 1996 the
former was merged with Austria Email AG; in 1998 Auricon sold 25% and
one share of Austria Email AG to KEH Holding AG, thus reducing its
share to 40%. In 1998 the group employed a total of approximately 430
people.
