b. Kamegg (municipality of Gars am Kamp, Lower Austria), Sept. 10, 1913, 
d. Vienna, July 25, 1989, palaeontologist, 1949-1979 employed by the 
Museum of Natural History in Vienna, from 1966 head of the Department 
of Geology and Palaeontology, from 1972 Director-General; headed 
numerous fossil excavations in Austria (especially Lower Austria) and 
abroad.
