an der Drau, alt. 1,087 m, pop. 1,889, area 73.99 km%%sup 2/%,
climatic health and winter resort; spa at the foot of the Nockberge
Mountains between Lake Millstatt and Turracher Hoehe Pass. Therapy
centre with thermal indoor pool (hot mineral spring with a low content
of minerals carried in solution, 22.5° C), Roemerbad spa,
golf-course, cable railways; tourism (1,006,393 overnight stays), wood
working, late Gothic pilgrimage church of St. Katharina (around
1492) with Gothic winged altar-piece (1510) built above a medical
spring (catchment in crypt), Gothic and Baroque parish church
(recorded 1166, renovated 1734) with monumental painting. In
St. Oswald (town in the municipality): late Gothic church (around
1510) with frescoes (1514) above the portal and various old Carinthian
Ringhof farmsteads.
