!!!Badener Tegel

Baden Marl, significant marine sediment of the former Vienna Basin Sea
(typical location is the Baden brickfield). As there is an abundance
of small and large fossils and as the Baden Marl can easily be
classified, the geological age lasting from 16,500,000 to 13,300,000
B.C. (pre-Tethys) in the area of the ancient European Mediterranean
Sea (extending from the Alpine Geosyncline in Switzerland to the Aral
Sea) has been designated "Badenia". In some places this sediment zone
reaches a thickness of up to 1,500 m. Underneath the Vienna Basin
it is composed of several tiers of sandstone, which constitute the
largest petroleum reservoir in the area ( Matzen Sand).
