b. Paudorf (Lower Austria), Feb. 22, 1911, expert on young people's 
literature, writer. 1948-1981 secretary-general of the Austrian Young 
People's Book Club; president of the International Board of Young 
People's Literature; head of the International Institute of Young 
People's Literature and Reading Behaviour, 1988 founded the Institute 
of School Textbook Research, which was renamed Institute of School 
Textbook Research and Learning Motivation in 1991.
