Bauer, Siegfried Josef, b. Klagenfurt (Carinthia), Sept. 13, 
1930, geophysicist. 1953-1960 researcher at the U. S. Army Signal 
Research and Development Laboratories; 1961-1981 researcher at 
NASA´s Goddard Space Flight Center, from 1975 Associate Director 
of Sciences there. From 1981 Chairman of the Department of Geophysics 
and Meteorology at the University of Graz; 1998 emeritus professor. 
Awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art in 1996.
