b. Graz (Styria), July 12, 1754, d. Vienna, June 10, 1849, natural scientist. Inherited his family's printing firm, (founded in Graz in 1585); director of the spinning-mill at Pottendorf from 1804-1807; director of the Emperor Franz I's Cabinet for Manufactured Goods (Fabriksproduktenkabinett) from 1807-1815.
