!!!Befreiungsausschuss Südtirol, BAS

Befreiungsausschuss Suedtirol, BAS, (approx. Liberation Committee 
South Tyrol), an organisation fighting for a greater degree of 
autonomy for the German minority group in South Tyrol. To this end, 
members of the group organised bomb attacks from 1960 onwards (January 
29, 1960, in Waidbruck, March 17 in Bozen/Bolzano, the so-called "fire 
night" on June 12, 1961). Many members were arrested in May 1960.
