Berner, Dieter, b. Vienna, Aug. 31, 1944, director, author. 
Studied in Vienna at the Akademie fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst 
(now the University of Music and Performing Arts) and the Reinhardt 
Seminar; from 1968 collective theatre work, collaboration with Peter 
Stein and others at the Schaubuehne Berlin and the Theater am Neumarkt 
in Zurich. Since the mid-1970s active as film and stage director. 
Awarded numerous prizes for his television series 
"Alpensaga" (1976-1980, script by W.  Pevny and P.  
Turrini).
