d. Vienna, Oct. 27, 2000, bass-baritone, Kammersaenger*, since 1950 
member of the Vienna State Opera, since 1952 at the Salzburg Festival, 
international appearances and guest performances; from 1989 Professor 
for voice and oratorio at the Vienna Musikhochschule*; later also 
performed popular Viennese songs with H.  Zednik; several recordings 
(operas, lieder, oratorios, Viennese songs). 1957-1971 married to C.  
Ludwig.
